"My cataract operation"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I recently had a cataract operation which went extremely well. What didn't go well was the four-hour wait to have it done. No information was given about the waiting time, which would have been helpful as I could have taken a walking break within the time given. It was unfortunate that I was last on the list and the surgeon apologised, which was very generous as it wasn't their fault, just the system.

Dear Thofp85,

We're really pleased to hear that your cataract operation went well and that you felt well cared for by your surgeon. However, we're sorry to hear about the long wait on the day of your procedure and the lack of communication around it. We understand how frustrating that must have been, especially without updates or the chance to take a break.

Your feedback is valuable and will be shared with the relevant team so we can look at ways to improve how we keep patients informed during their wait.

Thank you for your comments, and we wish you a smooth and speedy recovery.

Lauren
