I recently attended the emergency department. I walked in , the department was absolutely heaving . Nearly every seat in the waiting room was occupied . I really want to highlight that the staff, although working flat out, were efficient, informative and professional .
The doctor I saw was reassuring but also pleasant and I felt very safe with her care plan for me . The doctor read what she was writing about me on my notes. When I reached the end of my pathway , the doctor said - it was really nice to meet you. I was looking around the department and the number of patients they were dealing with and thinking , how can you still be so nice ! I was in the department for 4 hours .
The doctor I saw was taking patients directly from the waiting room and into a room near reception , I haven’t experienced that before but it seemed to be very efficient , it might be because that doctor was very good at what she does . I wish I had noted her name .
There was an amusing moment when a teenager came in , who had a head injury , he was feeling nauseous and his father took him to the toilet , the teenager didn’t want to go in to the toilet because he thought it would be dirty, disgusting and make him feel worse ! He did stay in there because , having used the toilet and thinking the same , they were very clean !
Anyway a huge well done to the department .
