"The report was clear and in plain English"

About: Victoria Hospital / Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service (RCDS)

(as a service user),

I went to my GP after dropping two dress sizes and having stomach pains. She referred me to a new scan unit. During the appointment they did 3 scans all at the same time which saved me having to travel the 2hours from my home to the Victoria Hospital more than once. Everyone was lovely and so efficient. The report was clear and in plain English. The whole experience was so reassuring, mainly because I didn't have to wait for results.

Dear T.A.H.

My name is Murdina MacDonald, I am the Professional Lead Nurse for our service. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
It’s encouraging to hear that your recent visit to the was met with such kindness, efficiency, and clarity. Facing unexpected and worrying symptoms like significant weight loss and stomach pain can be incredibly distressing. I’m so glad to hear that you felt supported and reassured throughout your visit.
The fact that all three scans were carried out in one appointment saving you a long and costly journey back to the Victoria Hospital is more than just a convenience. For many people, the financial and emotional toll of repeated travel can be overwhelming. Your story highlights how thoughtful planning and joined-up care can make a real difference. When the cost of accessing care adds to the stress of illness is something we’re increasingly aware of, and your feedback reminds us how important it is to keep addressing it with compassion and practical solutions.
I’m relieved to hear that your results were shared with you promptly and in a way that was easy to understand. When you're facing something unknown, the waiting and uncertainty can be incredibly heavy. Knowing that the team took the time to explain things clearly and didn’t leave you in limbo shows a deep compassion and understanding of just how important it is to feel safe, seen, and supported during such a vulnerable time.
Your kind words will mean a great deal to the team. Feedback like yours reminds us all why we do what we do.
Wishing you continued strength and good health as you move forward.

Warm Wishes

Murdina
