(as the patient),

I had a traumatic first birth at RDUH and couldn’t have had better aftercare. All the midwives took the time to listen to me and really cared about my experience. They addressed my concerns with compassion and kindness which helped with my healing physically and mentally. The ladies in pink who helped with the feeding were incredible. Everyone was so knowledgeable and couldn’t have done more. I wish I could remember everyone’s names but each person went above and beyond I wouldn’t be able to name everyone

Firstly, congratulations on the birth of your first baby! Thank you so much for sharing your experience, I am very sorry to hear that you found your birth traumatic. We have support in place for women who would like to talk about their birth, called a Birth Conversation, which is generally offered about six weeks after the birth of your baby. If you are not already aware of this service, you can request this by emailing rduh.birthconversations@nhs.net to book in a one-on-one conversation with an experienced midwife.

I am really pleased to hear you found the midwives who cared for you to be compassionate and kind. The 'ladies in pink' are our fantastic support workers, it's wonderful to hear they helped with your feeding, I hope everything is going well. I will be sure to pass your lovely feedback on to the staff on the ward, thank you again.
