"I am so thankful for the care I received"

About: Maternity / Induction of Labour Bay Maternity / Maternity Ward

(as the patient),

Was induced early at the Ulster as baby boy was reckoned to be large for gestational age (LGA). I was induced by Rhonda and Steffi on the induction ward and they were amazing. They explained everything and even though they were short staffed they made myself and my partner feel at ease.

Things escalated and baby boy made a very quick appearance and I was moved to labour ward where Jordan and student Niamh were with us every step of the way. It was a long night and they again were fabulous, motivating and very attentive.

I’m not a fan of hospitals and I’m sure I wasn’t an easy patient as I’m not a fan of needles or surgery and ended up needing both! He was born at 7am and I needed surgery and even though all the staff were about to change shift and go home they didn’t rush and stayed right till I was in recovery.

Again please pass my thanks to Dr Moran and all the girls in the recovery bay. One second year midwife in particular in the recovery bay (can’t remember her name) was fabulous and helped me breastfeed and took our first family picture.

The fellas in theatre were also great, talking away to me and making me feel comfortable and at ease. Everyone on the ward was amazing also - all midwives and support staff especially Amy.

I was very scared and nervous about the whole birth but everyone was fabulous and I don’t have one bad thing to say.

Even though my birth plan didn’t go to plan I am just so thankful for the care I received especially since the NHS is stretched. These women who looked after me deserve their weight in gold. Can’t be anymore thankful of them.

Just am sorry I didn’t get to personally thank them as I was in so much pain and theatre after it all.

Dear Mummyofone,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy, I hope you are both doing well.

Thank you for taing the time to post this lovely feedback. It is an anxious time for parents and I am delighted to hear that the team in the induction bay, labour ward and theatre were there to support you on this journey. It means a lot to the staff the receive this kind feedback and I will pass your post onto Rhonda, Stephanie, Dr Moran, Amy, Jordan and Niamh and the rest of the teams who were involved in your care. The whole maternity team work heard to ensure that mothers feel safe and involved in their care and even if your birth plan does not go to plan.

I hope you have made a full recovery following the birth of your son and once again thank you for this positive feedback,

Kindest Regards

Sarah.
