"Exceptional care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Elderly Medicine (Wards 51, 52, 54,55, 57, 8a & 2a)

(as a relative),

My dad was a patient in the Langlands unit ward 54. The care he received was exceptional. I initially complained as when I approached staff to ask about my dad I was advised that he was not their patient. I would like to thank the senior charge nurse Victoria for dealing with this matter. She called on different staff members to assist her when making my dad comfortable or getting him up into chair or through to the toilet assuring me that all staff would be aware of my dads needs. Despite the ward being very busy, I was then given daily updates on my dad by nursing staff and doctors caring for him. Jack, Tolu and Gillian were incredible. They had to use equipment to weigh dad and spoke to him, reassuring him throughout and even with his communication difficulties they showed true compassion. I am grateful for the care he received in ward 54.

Hello hekakx35,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of your father’s care in Ward 54. Your kind words about the staff truly mean a lot. It’s deeply reassuring to know that your father was treated with such exceptional care and compassion during his time with us.

I will personally make sure your feedback is shared with the ward team—they will be very grateful to hear it.

Kind regards,
Emma McDonald
Lead Nurse, OPSS
