"Outstanding Care"

About: Southmead Hospital / Neurology

(as a service user),

My son has learning difficulties and ASD along with a few other issues so a stay in hospital filled us with absolute dread and very daunting for my son. My son was determined to get through the tests and stay as he is so frustrated by tiredness, difficulties sleeping and not being believed or supported.

So how wrong we were about fearing he wouldn’t be supported or staff wouldn’t understand how scared he was and reassurance he needed to get through his stay.

From the moment he walked into the Rosa Burden Centre at Southmead Hospital every staff member couldn’t do enough they are an incredible team. Capturing his needs in a questionnaire, showing my son around and nothing was too much trouble as he can be demanding but thank you so much.

The ward feels more homely and you can see how much the staff care and they go above and beyond their duty which we are so grateful for.

We hope we get answers as no stone was left unturned with all the tests my son had done which we have been waiting years for.
