"Radiology scan"

About: South Tyrone Hospital / Radiology

(as a service user),

I had appointment this week at South Tyrone Hospital for a scan. Extremely poor signage around entire hospital. No hospital reception to ask for help  and no visible staff to help for directions.

When eventually found X-ray  I was asked for my personal details in front of a waiting room full of patients. Zero confidentiality. Then l was sent round to a different area for a scan and seen a patient being wheeled on a public corridor on a trolley with only a gown on, no privacy or dignity for the patient.

When i got to the other area which was hard to find there was nobody manning the reception desk and myself and 2 other people were left waiting not sure if we were in the right area. I could see staff in the distance but nobody came near any of us for long enough. While waiting for my scan i observed a number of people in gowns walking from changing rooms up corridors, this is not acceptable for privacy and dignity.

I was then asked to change in a shared cubicle space where two other men were changing, i am a female and this was completely unacceptable. I was then asked to walk up the corridor in a gown in front of other people sitting in a public corridor. The whole experience was awful. I never want to return to this hospital. They need to sort out all these issues.
