"Compassion focused therapy Edinburgh"

About: Royal Edinburgh Hospital / Psychology Services

(as a service user),

This has been such an incredible service and the experience has been life changing for me. I had 12 weeks of group compassion focused therapy and it has greatly improved my quality of life. I have suffered with mental illness for a number of years now and having recently become quite unwell, the compassion focused therapy group was offered to me as a treatment option. I was initially very sceptical - I didn't know what value there would be in group therapy and felt I maybe needed 1-1 support. However the group was so well run and structured such that I had support throughout, and have been able to access and harness the compassionate part of me to see a long-term improvement.

My special thanks go to Rachel and Lauryn from the Edinburgh CFT group - this experience has been truly revolutionary for me. It wasn't always an easy process, but the support provided has helped me immensely and I still meet up some members of the group at least once a month to keep up the momentum and support each other with our individual journeys. Thank you again

Dear GratefulH,

Thank you for sharing your valuable feedback on your experience of the CFT group. I'm glad to see that despite feeling skeptical initially about group work your description of this work being revolutionary highlights the benefits of these groups.

I will make sure that this feedback is shared with Rachel and Lauryn as well as the lead for this service.

Kind Regards

Siobhann Blair
