"Caring, professional and helpful"

About: Gartnavel General Hospital / General Surgery (ward 4a)

(as the patient),

4 months ago a gallstone caused necrotising pancreatitis and I was fortunate to experience really excellent care while I recovered. I have finally recovered enough to have my gallbladder removed to protect my pancreas.

I want to say just how caring, professional and helpful everyone has been throughout this process.

Danielle, Dr Katbeh's secretary was a fantastic help whenever I called for information. Dr Katbeh had put me at ease while I was recovering from pancreatitis early this summer and continued that recently. I felt fully at ease and have less pain and better mobility than expected one day in which has been a great surprise.

The reception staff, nurses and porters were all kind and highly skilled and ensure that I felt safe and secure at every stage. The anaesthetist was lovely and talked me through everything to make sure I knew what to expect.

I've been very lucky this year that despite a large health scare, I've never felt scared due to the knowledge and care of excellent NHS staff.
