About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

My doctor insisted on my going to hospital as my blood pressure was dangerously high and I was in danger of having a stroke. I waited 12 hours in A&E along with a lot of other people. Many of them spent several hours waiting but then left without being seen. This included families with young children who were ill but with no advice about how long they would wait they decided to leave. There is no intention to blame the staff - they did their best in difficult circumstances. There was very little movement of patients through the system so obviously understaffed.
