"I felt completely safe and well cared for"

About: Glenfield Hospital / Cardiology Glenfield Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

From the moment I arrived at Glenfield Hospital, I felt completely safe and well cared for. The staff on Ward 32 were outstanding. My nurse Sipho  provided brilliant care — she was knowledgeable, kind, and went above and beyond to make both me and my mother feel comfortable and reassured. Her calm approach and professionalism gave me total confidence that I was in safe hands.

In theatre, the team continued that same exceptional standard. They cared for me every step of the way and even played some music because they knew it would help ease my anxiety. That small, thoughtful act made a huge difference. The consultant Martin  was patient and thorough, explaining every stage of the procedure in a clear and reassuring way. I always knew what was happening, and that understanding made me feel involved and supported throughout.

When it came time for discharge, the care didn’t stop. The night shift nurse Jackson, who took over just before I was ready to leave, showed the same kindness and dedication. Even though I was only minutes from going home, he took the time to make sure all my questions were answered and that I felt confident and at ease.

What stood out most was how every member of staff worked together seamlessly, showing professionalism, compassion, and genuine teamwork. It was clear that there is strong leadership within the hospital, creating a culture where patients are truly put first.

And finally, a special thank you to everyone for being so patient and kind with my mum — you not only cared for me, but you made sure she felt reassured too.

Overall, my experience at Glenfield Hospital showed what Outstanding Care truly looks like — safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led in every sense. I am so grateful to the entire team on Ward 32 and in theatre for making my time there so positive and memorable.
