My son was taken to A&E Monklands as he was struggling to breathe normally. It was unusually quiet in the waiting room, so he was taken quite quickly.
Within 10 minutes of being in a cubicle, he had been given oral steroids and commenced on a nebuliser. After his second neb, his sats dropped to 80/82% and a nurse acted very quickly to have him moved to a single room.
Just as he was connected to the monitor in the single room, a nurse, on her own, immediately shouted for a doctor to attend resus, as his sats had plummeted, and my son was wheeled through to resus.
I am sorry I can't recall either of those nurses names, but I am eternally grateful to both of them for their quick actions.
My son is now home recovering, after a 4-day stay in hospital. A huge thank you to everyone involved in my son's care, within A&E, MAU, and Wd17. You're all amazing!
"You're all amazing!"
