"My hospital stay"

About: Fife Community Services / Podiatry General Surgery / Vascular Surgery (Ward 12) Victoria Hospital / Cardiology Victoria Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

I fell ill and my daughter called an ambulance, the paramedics who attended to me were professional, kind and reassuring. When they suggested that they take me to hospital I was very apprehensive as I had heard of other peoples bad experiences with the NHS. From the moment I was admitted to the cardiology department in the Victoria Hospital I received great care from the wonderful team of doctors and nurses.

I spent a week in their care, and it was an uplifting experience. Thank you to all the staff. The one complaint I have is the food was inedible.

I recently had a sigmoidoscopy which was performed by consultant Mr Cruikshank who came into the Victoria Hospital on his day off to do my procedure. I would say this was excellent service. Thank you Mr Cruikshank, and your very kind, caring team of nurses.

In early 2025 I had bypass surgery on my leg, this was carried out by a wonderful team of vascular surgeons at Ninewells hospital, headed by Dr Nagy. They saved my leg and I am eternally grateful to all of them. Thank you. One nurse in particular who was a great help to me during a difficult time, her kindness and care was exemplary. Thank you, Beth.

I then had an angiogram in Ninewells. Carried out by Vascular surgeon Mr Fletch, and it appears to have been a success as I have not needed further treatment. Thank you to you Mr Fletch and your wonderful team.

I am now attending the Adamson hospital in Cupar podiatry department. where I again receive excellent treatment from Nurse Wendy. Professional, kind and caring, she is a star. Thank you Wendy and also Liz.

Also, I would like to say a thank you to the two friendly and helpful receptionists in the Adamson hospital, Suzannah and Susan.

Altogether my experience from the NHS has been a positive one.
