"It was so quick it almost took my breath away"

About: Victoria Hospital / Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service (RCDS)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I was given a referral by my GP for various health issues to the Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service at Victoria Hospital and of course the word cancer was concerning for me. 

I could not believe the speed of service this department delivers.  Within a day of my referral I was contacted by the RCDS team, given an initial consultation and then a date for a CT Scan.  It was so quick it almost took my breath away. 

I had the scan on a Thursday and a follow up phone call on the Friday. This was good as I was worried I would not hear back over the weekend.  My results were all clear which of course was good news.

I can't think of any improvements to this service, it's efficient, fast and patient focused.

I can only imagine how unsettling it must have been to hear the word cancer during your referral, and I’m truly glad that our team was able to respond quickly and help ease some of that worry.

It’s heartening to hear that the speed and coordination of your care from initial contact to consultation, CT scan, and follow-up made a positive difference for you. We know how important it is to keep patients informed and supported, especially when waiting for results, so I’m pleased the timing of your follow-up call helped bring some peace of mind ahead of the weekend.

Your kind words about the service being “efficient, fast and patient focused” mean a great deal to the team. We strive to deliver care that is not only clinically excellent but also compassionate and responsive to each person’s needs so thank you for recognising that.
