"I could not believe the speed of service"

About: Fife Community Services / Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service (RCDS)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I am living with a prostate cancer diagnosis and whilst it seems under control a period of sudden weight loss was very concerning for me. I made an appointment at my GP's and I was immediately referred to the RCDS team at Victoria Hospital. 

A member of the RCDS team contacted me straight away and the first phone call was a consultation which was very thorough. I was impressed from the start and that gave me confidence in the service.

After the initial phone call I was given a date for a CT scan which was the very next day. I had the scan and equally quickly I had the results. I could not believe the speed of service.

The good news is that my cancer had not spread.  Getting the results so quickly was great and removed all my anxiety.  The staff were so good and thorough answering all my questions.

The RCDS is a first class service and at its heart are staff who really care about your health and are very approachable, this includes an open door to phone if, as a patient, if you have any questions.  Thanks RCDS for a great service.
