"Positive birth experience and amazing midwives"

About: Maternity Care / AMU (Alongside Midwifery Unit) Maternity Care / Antenatal Maternity Care / Labour Ward

(as a service user),

I just wanted to share my positive experience and birth story from having my wee girl in mid September in Wishaw hospital - as someone who had a previous traumatic birth 5 years ago and was so terrified to go through labour and birth again. All thanks to the midwives, student midwives and support workers at Wishaw, I had an amazing experience.

I was booked for induction and Kerry on the antenatal ward looked after me on her night shift, she was so lovely and made me feel calm, going through all my worries and anxieties after me crying walking from the car to the ward with how scared I was. She was brilliant and so caring and I wish i could’ve thanked her before she finished her shift.

When I got moved to the labour room, I was looked after by midwife Nicola and student midwife Emma who was in her third year. I honestly have no words to describe how amazing these two midwives were, how caring, nurturing and on the ball they were. They are honestly a huge credit to the NHS and Wishaw. I was only able to have such a positive labour and birth because of them and how compassionate and supportive they were and I feel I can’t thank them both enough.

The midwives on the postnatal ward were also amazing however I can’t remember any names from my time being there.

Overall, every staff member I met and dealt with over the full 48 hours of being in hospital were great, so professional and caring and they are the reason that my experience was so positive and I want to thank them all.
