"Exceptional midwives and people"

The idea of the Team is that you’ll ideally have the same midwife for your antenatal appointments, labour and postpartum care. Due to unforeseen circumstances I saw four of the team at different stages, however my care was never compromised and I feel lucky to have met such a great team of women over my pregnancy.

At the early stages I was under the care of Rachael & Karen who made me and my partner feel so reassured and answered all questions (no matter how trivial) we had. Karen in particular was a huge encouragement and supported me to trust my instincts when it came to decision making with consultant team. Karen’s enthusiasm for the job really stuck out and was lovely to see. 

Nearer to the end of my pregnancy I had to switch to having Caitlin due to unforeseen circumstances, but she quickly learned all about me and complications I was having with my blood pressure. Caitlin was so patient with us at every visit and went over and beyond to facilitate me despite her already very busy schedule. Caitlin’s work ethic is exceptional and the lotus team are very lucky to have her. 

In labour I met Jordan who was equally amazing. Despite not meeting her beforehand, Jordan quickly came up to speed and by the time her shift changed it felt like myself and my partner were saying bye to a friend rather than a health professional! Jordan’s created a relaxing and positive atmosphere in the delivery suite and her encouragement really helped us through some tough moments. Having Jordan calling for my postpartum visits was a real comfort. Jordan went over and beyond during these visits and couldn’t have been more helpful particularly when dealing with c section recovery. Jordan is born to be a midwife and we couldn’t be more thankful for everything she has done for us. 

Overall I feel so lucky to have met all of the lotus team who are all exceptional midwives and people.
