I started being violently sick and had diarrhoea and was feeling really unwell. My husband contacted NHS 24 and held on the phone for around an hour, eventually having spoken to the receptionist he was then passed to a nurse and finally a doctor. After answering all the questions, the doctor suggested that as I was type 2 diabetic it would be advisable to go to A&E or the Out of Hours clinic at Douglas Street Hamilton. I chose this option as it was only five minutes in the car from my home.
We were met by a lovely nurse who took as through to the room and carried out all the normal tests etc. Then came along this lovely Doctor called Dr Doran who was very pleasant and tended to look after me. She was very professional and had a lovely bedside manner.
We were in for well over an hour and she kept coming back to see how I was feeling. Eventually she gave me an anti sickness injection and gave me some anti sickness tablets to take home with me. She said that if I felt any worse to come back.
As this was my first experience of attending the Out of Hours, I would not have any hesitation of going there again. It is certainly not as busy as A&E and the nurses and doctors are able to spend more time with the patient. Although I was feeling really ill, I would like to thank Dr Doran for looking after me in my hour of need. Dr Doran you are a star. Thank you once again.
