"I felt the pain during eye surgery"

Appointments - My distance from Hairmyres Hospital is approximately 20 miles each way. I had my breakfast at 7.15am then left at 11 am to allow for the traffic for my appointment at 12.15pm. I had my operation at 4.30pm. I would suggest that you split the appointments into two, for example from 12-2.30pm and 2.30-5pm. Also, to sit in a wooden armed chair for 7 hours until I left was sore for anyone, but I'm in my 90s so it was extra uncomfortable.

I was offered a drink of tea at 2.30pm but nothing to eat. At 3.30pm I asked for food and drink. I had sandwiches and tea-much appreciated. I offered the sandwiches to other patients but they were refused. I got the impression they were afraid.

Surgery - I got my eye surgery at 4.30pm which is a long time from 12.10pm, so possibly as I have suggested split the appointments into two during the day. I would suggest that the surgeon asks the patients if they are hurting - which I was. The reason being that I was in extreme pain all the way through the surgery.

Dear stonemr57,

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback following your eye surgery. On this particular day you were scheduled to attend at 12:15pm, this allows the staff to prepare you for surgery however it is not your planned surgery time. This can be a bit misleading and apologies if you were not fully informed of this. Their are multiple patients who attend for surgery in the afternoon, sometimes resulting in a longer wait and comfier recliner chairs are available shoud you require one.
