Very thankful for the way we were treated in altnagelvin hospital ward 6.
I can’t remember everyone’s name in the ward, and there were all brilliant but Rachel stands out - she explained everything to me, and like her colleagues treated my sick baby with outstanding care. Rachel gave me space to feed the baby, offering to open or close curtains whatever way I wanted - just so thoughtful and considerate.
All of this really helped me feel better, given the wet miserable day, and having to bring a sick baby out in the cold. I felt like Rachel was so empathetic, likely knowing I was likely tired from the little baby being unwell and that I was on my own in the ward with my baby daughter.
For me, not only did they did a great job with my sick baby, they also cared about me, a mum who has only given birth about 8 weeks ago. This level of empathy, alongside the experience explaining RSV bronchiolitis to me just makes me smile. I know the NHS is great because of great people like Rachel who show up and show they care. Not easy I can imagine near the end of a long day too!
A massive thank you Rachel and all the team like Jennifer (and another nurse with dark hair and glasses) for your outstanding care.
