"I felt like I had the best, most caring people on my side"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Maternity care Maternity care / Antenatal Clinic (Anderson House) Western Health & Social Care Trust / Community Midwifery Services

(as a service user),

Amazing experience with my pregnancy through to coming home with my baby. All staff I met took time to talk, and guide me through the journey.  I loved seeing how all the experts worked together, rallying round. From my 2023 experience I feel there was much more support for breastfeeding - sharing tips etc

Every step of the way I felt like I had the best, most caring people on my side and they made me feel like my little baby was the most special baby in the world! I wish I could remember more names to thank - ones that shine and stand out are Consultant Dr Magipol, anesthetist Joanne, Midwife Faye and the wonderful student Faith. Thank you. Forever grateful!

Ps. A little idea - I think setting up a “Meet the babies and delivery heroes” session would be a wonderful idea for an event in the hospital. My thinking is that even once a quarter or even twice a year have an open event for people to come back and meet the team and share a cuppa with the people who helped bring our people into the world. Could be used as a way to promote health and wellbeing etc too.

Thank you for taking the time to post this lovely feedback on your maternity care in Altnagelvin. I am glad you felt supported and well cared for throughout all aspects of your pregnancy journey.

Our maternity team are delighted to receive this post and your suggestion of a 'meet the babies and delivery heroes' event is a lovely idea which I will consider in my role as lead midwife for continuity of midwifery carer.

May I take this opportunity to thank you once again for sharing your positive experience and congratulations on the birth of your wee bundle of joy.

Thank you

Fiona Lindsay
