"Occupational therapy - Bellshill IRT"

I wanted to share my positive experience with the Occupational therapy service with Bellshill IRT. My OT Danielle has been working with me for over a year, when I returned home from hospital I was a full time wheelchair user, stuck indoors and stuck in my living room.

Danielle supported me with adaptations by widening doors and adapting my kitchen and door to my ramp. I can access my home and around it without difficulty. I had been refused by westmarc for a powered wheelchair because I could move my arms about but self propelling outdoors was impossible for me. Danielle supported me with charity funding towards a powered wheelchair. 

I am now able to mobilise outdoors and indoors more freely and independent. This has been life changing for me as I can go to the shops and go to the club with my son. I don’t know what I would have done without Danielle, she has been helpful in areas such as maximising benefits and applying for a my bus pass.
