I've been coming to the Renal Unit for about a year and a half, I was in C7 first and have been in A4 too. C7 is very good they are all single rooms and I had my own bathroom. The staff were brilliant, I remember my legs were heavy and uncomfortable, Jody got me a footstool, also one of the nurses, I think it was Erin, got me a recliner chair, it made all the difference and she took the time to talk to me.
The staff in the Renal Unit are all friendly and helpful, they explain everything clearly and have assisted me with preparing for home dialysis..
Dr Bob is probably the best doctor I have ever met, he explained everything to me about my fistual and how it works. Dr Ronan and Dr Jason do my monthly bloods they take time to speak to me and explain things. Some are very short and acidic, this makes me feel like I don't want to interact.
Specialist Nurse Lynsey helped me to prepare for home dialysis too. Claire and Shay made my button hole they took extra time to show me the pack, clean the line and set up dialysis - Gerry gave me some top tips. Tommy, Jackie, Fergeal and Luke helped me with this too, it makes all the difference, they are all very good, dedicated staff.
Gwen and Claire at front desk are great, they help me with transport and checking dates of appointments.
I see Gillian the podiatrist every so often she does a routine check of my feet, she did a doppler and has referred me for special insoles.
Rosie is an extremely hard working nurse, she has a lot of knowledge, answers questions and takes time to for other chats.
The staff are very good.
In C7 if I didn't like lunch, they got me a sandwich or a salad, or something else, they do the same here, the food in Antrim is 5 star.
