"Privacy in the waiting area"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I attended craigavon area hospital emergency hospital this evening. Upon my arrival at reception I provided my details to one of the receptionists whom then began to ask me personal questions in relation to my attendance/condition despite previously providing these details.

I was not comfortable discussing my condition in a waiting room full of other patients and their families. I feel such tasks should be carried out in a more private manner.

Thank you for posting and highlighting this. I am sorry that you felt your privacy was not maintained. I am aware that this is a problem and there is not enough space between the reception desk and the waiting area. Unfortunately the staff at reception must take specific details in order to correctly book you on to the system.

I have been having discussions with senior management about this issues and we have been discussing different options on how we overcome this problem and offer patients more privacy when booking on.

After you posted I have attached this post to another email to escalate this further and see if plans for works can be pushed on. It is something that may require a lot of building and maintenance works as we may need to move the reception desk back further away from the waiting room or get booths made.

Thank you again for highlighting this, and I hope if you ever unfortunately need our service again that this will have changed.
