"Every one of the nurses have been wonderful and friendly"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Ayrshire Doctor on Call (ADOC) General practices in Ayrshire & Arran Girvan & Maybole

(as the patient),

Struggled for ages with Hickman Line for nutrition as its after an eosophagogastrectomy 10 hr operation, two heart attacks induced coma and failed surgeries I then had the joy of my future son in law colliding with me in his house while imwas playing with his tiny dog and when I fell he tried to protect me but subsequently broke my pelvis and two major bones in my arm down near the wrist.

Being unable to do the twice daily procedure requiring sterile environment and behaviours as the risk of sepsis is very present, so I needed the support from the. Amazingly supportive team from my local communitupy hospital and health centre, District nurses from Girvan and out of hours team too.

Gillian even walked more than a half mile when workmen refused her access when they were laying tarmac and while she could have gone away she decided to walk on the uneven surface when she was suffering a sore back. I can’t name all of them because with my memory I’d miss mentioning a name and I’d hate to do that. Tonight when finished her work Gillian picked up my prescription and brought essential medication to me because she didn’t want me to wait overnight till my husband was able to do it.

Every one of the nurses have been wonderful and friendly and I’ve enjoyed them sharing little snippets of their friendships and their family lives and in particular stories about their pets.

I’d never before thought about the district nurses keeping chickens hamsters cats dogs sheep and horses amongst others of Gods creation but the love of life and care giving has gone above and beyond the call,of duty. I can say Girvan..aim proud to be here.
