"Nothing but kind, attentive and considerate"

About: Gartnavel General Hospital / Elderly Medicine (wards 2a, 2c, 6a, 6c, 8a & 8c)

(as a relative),

Our late father recently passed away on ward 8c in Gartnavel Hospital, the staff were outstanding considering what was going on around the place. Our father was deteriorating and there were other patients walking in and out of the shared room he was in shouting and rummaging through his belongings but one morning nurse Joanne came and had our father moved into a room of his own at 7am

Most days the ward was only words I can explain it as is crazy but throughout the craziness and business of the place those woman as in nurses were nothing but kind, attentive and considerate, they treated us like we were family too, offering us breakfast tea and toast and popped their heads in to not only see if our father was ok but also the family we will never forget that

The physio had my father up walking only just days before his passing and that really made him happy and for us to see him elated was a memory we can’t forget

We would like to say thank you to all the staff and we take our hat off to you lot for the job you do under the pressures we saw

Special thanks to nurse Cathy and Pam on at night time and to Joanne on in day time also to Dianne and Jacky for making our father laugh so much, he couldn’t wait to tell us and telling him stories about their children and grandchildren and showing him photographs, he enjoyed that

Dear J&KM82

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your heartfelt message following the recent passing of your father on Ward 8C at Gartnavel Hospital.

We are deeply sorry for your loss and offer our sincere condolences to you and your family at this difficult time.

We are incredibly moved by your kind words about the care your father received and the compassion shown to your family. It means a great deal to hear that, even during what you described as busy and challenging circumstances, our staff were able to provide the warmth, dignity, and personal attention your father deserved in his final days.

Your recognition of the team — particularly Joanne, Cathy, Pam, Dianne, and Jacky — is truly appreciated. We will make sure your thanks and comments are passed on to them personally, as well as to the wider team. Knowing that they helped bring comfort, laughter, and precious moments to your father — and to you as a family — will mean so much to them.

Thank you again for your touching message and for recognising the dedication and humanity of our staff. It has been a privilege to care for your father, and we wish you continued strength and peace in the days ahead.

Kind regards

Kevin
