"I was surprised how in-depth this first consultation was"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Rheumatology

(as the patient),

I attended my first appointment with Angela at the Rhuematology Occupational Dept at  Ninewells Hospital Dundee. I was unsure what advice this service offered.

I was surprised how in-depth this first consultation was. From accessing the restrictions in my hand movement & grip to advice on reducing the inflammation by using the hot & cold water immersion method. Also how I could reduce the pain levels by using supportive tape and or a splint.( this was demonstrated during this consultation)

I was given information how to purchase additional gloves which may be affective. I was also questioned on how the rheumatoid arthritis has impact on my daily life. I found this appointment very informative and re-assuring that my condition can be managed in the future and that I can ask for help or advice at any time I need it.  A follow up appointment was arranged .

Hi Hanzra

Thank you for the feedback, I am delighted to hear that you found the pain and swelling management to be of benefit and that you felt reassured regarding managing in the future. I wish you the best of health and look forward to seeing you at the next appointment. Best wishes, Angela
