"Oxygen at home"

About: Community Services (Adult Physical Health) / Respiratory and Home Oxygen Service

(as the patient),

January 2024 admitted to ICU with bacterial pneumonia. I spent five day's in ICU on three different antibiotics and oxygen at 80 liters per minute with a full face mask on. I was then moved down to the respiratory ward for about ten days before discharge.

In May 2024 i went for pulmonary rehabilitation, my blood oxygen levels were 37%. I was then readmitted to the respiratory ward where I was diagnosed with polycythemia vera.

Thats when I started on the oxygen at home. The service supplied is second too none.

I lead the Respiratory and Home Oxygen Service. The service is a home visiting service and we support patients to manage their condition and ensure treatment is evidence based and that it is the best that can be offered for the patient We are a 09:00-17:00 service and do not work weekend or bank holidays

Thank you so much for taking the time to offer feedback on the service you have received from the home oxygen team.

It seems like in 2024 you have had a very challenging time and I am hopeful that things have settled down for you now.

Our aim is always to support you with your treatment and it sounds like this has been done.

Thank you again
