"Long wait time"

About: Borders General Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

My wife had issue with her eye, and we called up NHS24 to see what was advised and after speaking with them for 20min they said to go to A+E. We got there around 2am and was seen by triage fairly quickly and then we were sent back to waiting room. We then had to wait for around 7 and a half hours but been seen, when we were seen we were told by the staff member that had just arrived that they were the only one dealing with eye problems. We had not been given any warning prior to this that there were no staff for eye problems throughout the night and just had to wait.

We were not happy with experience, my wife was in a lot of pain during the long waiting time.

Sorry to hear about your long wait in the ED to be seen.

If you would like to contact the patient experience team so we may look into this further

Thank

Alan
