My baby was born at the beginning of September in Inverness (due to high blood pressure). I was always very keen to breastfeed and was offered some support in Raigmore to do this. However, being a busy hospital and a new parent I wasn’t always confident to ask for support. However, I had met Amanda during my pregnancy and knew that her support was available at Dr Gray’s. Attending Amanda’s responsive feeding session and having a chat with her made me feel more comfortable to ask for her for support.
When I was home and being supported in the community, I reached out to Amanda for support with my breastfeeding journey as I was experiencing some discomfort and wasn’t feeling particularly confident. Amanda offered helpful and practical advice that left me feeling more secure in my understanding of how my baby was feeding and more confident in my ability to continue breastfeeding. Amanda offered space, time and excellent expertise in an incredibly supportive and gentle way. If I had not been able to access Amanda’s support, I am not sure I would have felt able to continue breastfeeding exclusively and I also feel this would have impacted my mental health.
