My mother is having radiotherapy treatment for reoccurring esophageal cancer. This is effected one of her vocal chords causing a poor voice and issues with swallowing.
She has been under several teams including the upper throat team at Aintree. This team was excellent by the way. They passed her on to Mr Chengs team who have also been excellent.
We have had frustrations with the system. Processes seem to be pigeon holed with akin to departments don't deal with that issue, having been used on more than one occasion.
We met Caryn from speech and language end of September.
She looked at the issue from the whole jigsaw point of view. She provided Mum with thickeners which instantly improved the ability to have a cup of tea without choking.
She discussed possible long term solutions and seemed to provide the link between Aintree and clatterbridge.
She did more to improve my Mums quality of life in 30 minutes tha we have had throughout the process.
I feel Caryn went above and beyond to cater for my Mums needs.
If there are awards for quality of service then Caryn deserves one.
"The team was excellent"
