"I feel my concerns are not being escalated in a timely manner"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Gynae Assessment Unit The Ulster Hospital / Gynae Hub The Ulster Hospital / Gynae Outpatients The Ulster Hospital / Ward 4E (Gynaecology)

(as a parent/guardian),

From May 2025 to current as a mother of a teenage female, I feel my concerns regarding my daughter's gynaecology health issues are not being escalated in a timely manner.

I have raised this through the complaints department back in June 2025 and I am yet to receive an outcome which is satisfactory. Current outcome from the complaints manager in the South Eastern Trust states due to a state of escalation within the Maternity & Gynaecology service this complaint is still under review.

5 months later I still have very valid concerns as a parent about the health and wellbeing of my daughter and feel no one is listening. We have had numerous visits to ED, 4 day admission, emergency surgery and clinical visits and I feel my daughter's health is deteriorating before me. I have reached out numerous times to the consultant's secretary via telephone with no reply from secretary or named consultant.

I feel we have experienced substandard care from the Gynaecology department in the South Eastern Trust.

Dear travellernb58,

I am so sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with both the time it is taking to respond to your complaint and with the care you have received from the Gynaecology Service within the South Eastern Trust. I appreciate how frustrating and upsetting this must feel.

Please be assured that your complaint is being taken seriously. A response should be with you very shortly. I recognise that waiting for a response can add to your dissatisfaction. I acknowledge that this delay has been longer than you expected and I sincerely apologise for the impact this has had.

WE are committed to providing safe, high quality care and I regret that your experience has not reflected that. Your feedback will be used to inform and identify areas where we need to make improvements.

I am content to speak with you directly if you feel that would be beneficial.

Thank you for your patience and for giving us the opportunity to address your concerns.

regards,

Pauline

travellernb58,

I am sincerely sorry for the delay in responding to your concerns and for the wait for gynaecology review for your daughter. The activity pressures on the service during recent months have been extremely challenging and the teams have had to prioritise clinical workloads.

The Trust is working extremely hard to find ways of improving our wait times for gynaecology services, both at a local and regional level. This remains a high priority for the service.

I can confirm that a written response to your complaint is complete and, following director approval, will be forwarded to you.
