"Hospital food"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as a parent/guardian),

My son has an intolerance to dairy and was recently diagnosed with UC and has a result as being advised to remove dairy completely.

He was admitted to hospital this week and was told he’d have to have dry toast for breakfast as they don’t have dairy free butter.

He was later prescribed some not very nice medicine which the DR said works well mixed in yoghurt so I asked the staff for a dairy free yoghurt and again was told they don’t have any.

I believe dairy free options should be made available .

Dear parent,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your sons experience.

We are sorry to hear that the food was not up to the standard we expect.

I have passed on your comments to our catering manager who will take your comments into consideration.

Kind regards,

Patient Experience Team
