"Waiting List"

About: Spire Leicester Hospital

(as the patient),

In 2017 a Consultant at Leicester General Hospital said I needed both knees replaced due to osteoarthritis. He considered the left knee was slightly worse so at that point I had a left knee replacement.

After physio and several GP appointments ,I was left with continual pain at the site of the operation.  was told this was due to nerve damage, and nothing could be done, so I delayed having another operation.

Two years ago, I had a bad fall due to weakness in my knee, finally last year I had a chronic tendon repair on same leg. I was in plaster for 3 months, removal of the plaster left me with severe pain in the sole of the foot. The pain in my right knee has gradually become extreme, it wakes me every night, limits any activity, and painkillers make no difference, I realise I now need further treatment.

My GP referred me in August. I have had my appointment cancelled twice by the Spire Hospital in Leicester, with very short notice, the latest appointment I have been given is for the end of October. I feel this is unacceptable considering the amount of pain I am in, and the fact that the appointment will lead to a place on maybe a long waiting list for an operation.

I was referred to pain management in December 2024, various recommendations were made but no help has been given so far.
