"Given a wrong venue for an appointment"

About: Nightingale Hospital Exeter / Centre of Excellence for Eyes Royal Eye Infirmary / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I received an appointment letter from the booking service at the University Hospitals Plymouth on behalf of the Royal Eye Infirmary, instructing me to go for an eye appointment at the Nightingale Hospital Exeter.

When I arrived, the staff knew nothing about it, and I was told they had stopped doing clinics for the REI.  The staff at the Nightingale were really apologetic but they were unable to help and suggested I contact UHP/REI Booking Service. I live in Cornwall, 50 miles away from Exeter, I am not happy.

Dear Paul from Kernow,

I am one of the managers at the Nightingale Hospital Exeter. I am really sorry that you were sent the wrong venue on your appointment letter. I will flag this in our next Centre of Excellence for Eyes Operational Touchpoint for discussion, however the letters and venue are generated from University Hospital Plymouth and we do not have any control over the content of their letters.

Once again I am so sorry for your wasted time and journey. We will flag this to their team to ensure that this does not happen to anyone else.

Best wishes,
Helen Bowmer

Admin Services Manager

dear Paul from Kernow,

I have been in contact with the managers at UHP and they have asked for your details so they can look into this to see what went wrong and make sure it does not happen again.

Please could you email me at Helen.Bowmer@nhs.net with your name, DOB and if possible NHS number so they can look into this for you.

Many thanks

Helen
