"Sensitivity and reassurance"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Chemotherapy Day Unit (Ward 15)

(as a service user),

I was feeling really nervous, although tries to hide it as always.  The welcome from entering ward 11 was welcoming and friendly.  I had questions to ask and all the nursing staff made me feel welcome and that I mattered by using my name and smiling.

LMcF, the sister is phenomenal at welcoming all the patients and her people skills are incredible. She made me feel relaxed and spoke to me like a normal person. Her attitude is always professional yet she manages to be human and a real person, this is so valuable and allows me to be open and honest with her.  She connects professionally, yet real with her words, information and listening skills I cannot praise her enough. Going for chemo is traumatic, so having an individual like LMcF to meet, greet and treat me is invaluable.  She is an outstanding human being and exceptional nurse  who makes me feel valued and normal. I have spoken to many of my fellow patients who feel the same and they too reiterate, how valuable she is to their treatment. I have witnessed her speaking to patients I don't know and they too appear to have a genuine, open and human yet professional relationship. I always feel in good and safe hands when she is on shift.

Please let her know how valued she is.
