I was finding life difficult with the intrusive thoughts which were very distressing and I found I couldn't stop the thoughts or slow them down and stop them from going down a rabbit hole and catastrophise, and this was stopping me doing things in my daily life. It was affecting my work life, home life and social life, and relationships.
That had been the case for many years and I didn't really understand what was happening and how to put the brakes on.
Attending CBT with Fiona has been an amazing experience. Fiona took it slowly at the start while also challenging me in a very manageable, positive way. Yes it was challenging and uncomfortable, but I needed to challenge myself if I was to recover.
The therapy allowed me to understand how the intrusive thoughts affected me, the feelings I was feeling and how this impacted my behaviours. I learned to become more comfortable with the uncomfortable feelings and that it's ok to feel this, and it will pass. I also learned more about me and what kind of a lifestyle supported me and I then changed how busy I was and allowed time for me to deal with those feelings etc.
Fiona also shared information about OCD, thoughts and the CBT cycle with me and this helped me see the different types of thinking and this enabled me to identify my thinking styles, and how I could manage these. Thanks so much Fiona for this work and for your compassionate, non judgemental and professional approach. It has been a worthwhile experience to be able to manage this condition and know I am more than it. Here's to keeping moving forward, thanks again Fiona.
