Dad's had a bad chest and continuous hiccups, he's in his 80s and severely disabled. The GP requested the Urgent Response team do a house visit, which happened very soon after. Dad had a thorough examination from the pair of responders and made some immediate recommendations we could act on. We've since had visits every day for a week, with various people checking and recommending actions, including a referral to Speech Therapy.
Every visitor has been excellent, friendly and helpful. The communication between team members was impressive - there was no feeling of starting over with each new face turning up - a good sense of continuity between them. Also liaison with our GP and our care agency.
Dad felt thoroughly looked after. They have now signed us off, back to the care of our GP as dad is significantly improved, the medicines are working and there is a solid plan of action for everything else. Dad and I understand all the advice given, and can act on it.
I have not heard of the Urgent Community Response team before, our experience was notably good. Our GP didn't have capacity on the day and dad did not want to go to hospital. I'm very pleased with the whole experience.
"Very pleased with the whole experience"
