Following the birth of my first baby, in North Devon, I referred myself to the North Devon Perinatal Pelvic Health Service after an appointment with the GP. I wanted to leave feedback on the service as it has been a vital part of my physical and mental recovery after giving birth.
I have seen Lucy (physiotherapist) for my pelvic floor and symptoms of prolapse. Lucy has always been warm, welcoming and has always made me feel at ease. The appointments have helped me to work on strengthening my pelvic floor, reducing my symptoms and in turn returning to exercise. Lucy is full of knowledge, expertise and a real asset to the service. She has always made time for my questions and as a result I have felt very supported. The advise she has given me has really helped my recovery. In turn this has helped my wellbeing and mental health after giving birth - as I was incredibly worried about my symptoms.
More generally the Perinatal Pelvic Health Service is an incredibly valuable service which should be available to all women after giving birth and beyond.
"I was incredibly worried about my symptoms."
