"My birth story"

About: Maternity care / Midwives Raigmore Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I recently gave birth through induction at Raigmore hospital. I was nervous as my waters broke but my contractions didn’t start and my birth plan was to avoid induction if possible. However from the very start point of my experience with the midwives in Raigmore hospital was nothing less than exceptional. They were so informative and compassionate I managed to stay calm throughout my whole labour and it lasted almost 14 hours. Each midwife including the student midwives were so amazing and I genuinely had such an amazing experience with each one of them.

I cannot thank them enough for the way they reassured me through labour and delivery along with the nursery nurses and midwives on ward 10 who were so attentive and helped me with breast feeding and bonding with my baby.

I felt so looked after whenever I needed it and they also allowed me the space to feel comfortable both when I was birthing and post partum. I have genuinely been blown away by the Raigmore midwives and staff and cannot thank them enough for their absolutely incredible support, my birth was genuinely one of the best days of my life and a massive reason for that was how supported I felt by the professionals around me.

Throughout my entire pregnancy my amazing community midwife Eilidh was also the most amazing source of support and reassurance I needed to get ready for my baby! The midwives I have met in the 10 days after having my baby have also been extremely supportive along with the amazing support I’ve received from Daoine with breast feeding.

From the bottom of my heart thank you to the Raigmore and Dingwall midwives.
