"Cancelled appointment"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Respiratory medicine

(as the patient),

I recently attended my appointment at the clinic. The doctor did not show up and nobody was informed they were not coming, the staff were not informed.

I had been waiting for this appointment for many months and had at least 2 rescheduled appointments, I was supposed to get a lung function test many months ago but I had to keep phoning and asking for this test to be done before I saw the doctor as I knew there had been a big change in my lung function and I would do anything to stay out of hospital as I have experienced 2 long stays previously.

There was at least 3 staff on duty and they did not know what was happening, a complete waste of money and time, surely the doctor's secretary should have informed them? I had to refuse a lovely invitation as seeing my lung specialist was more important!

Good Morning PoppyBertie

I am sorry to read of your experience regarding the appointment you attended where no doctor showed up. I can only apologise in behalf of the Respiratory team and offer you assurance that this Care Opinion post will be shared with the Associtae Medical Director for Medical and the Respiratory Medical Team at University Hospital Crosshouse. This is not the service we want to deliver to the peple of Ayrshire and I hope in receiving this response you will see we are addressing any failings that are brought to our attention.

Again thank you for bringing this to our attention and sorry you had to decline an invitation to attend an appointment at which we let you down.

Kind Regards

Hazel Hainey
