"My son's dental care"

About: Public Dental Service / Drumchapel Health Centre Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Dental Service

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was 6 when he had a very traumatic experience at his usual dentist. He was referred to a Dental Practitioner, Emma, and her lovely hygienist, Claire, and my son experienced the best care ever.

At his first appointment he was a bit apprehensive but both ladies very quickly made him love his dental care and procedures. Due to his health conditions and allergies, he was then referred also to dental hospital for more complicated procedures and teeth extraction to Gillian.

Dr Gillian and her lovely hygienist offered my son also the most amazing care. He actually had much fun there and the extraction didn't hurt him one bit.  They made it for him like a fun experience twice and he absolutely loved it. He was very much engaged in every step and was even trying to help whenever he could.

After the very first traumatic experience at local dentist, I thought he would have lifetime trauma but both places, Drumchapel and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, simply erased all the bad memories and my son now loves dental procedures.

I cannot even express how grateful we are as parents and I want to thank for everything from the bottom of my heart.

Hi browsereb77

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt and uplifting story about your son's journey through dental care.

I was truly sorry to hear that his initial experience was traumatic, but it’s incredibly reassuring to know that the care provided by Emma, Claire, Gillian, and their teams at Drumchapel and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital made such a positive and lasting impact. It’s wonderful to hear how they helped your son feel safe, engaged, and even excited about his dental procedures.

Your kind words will mean a great deal to the teams involved and I will make sure your feedback is shared with them. Stories like yours remind us why compassionate, patient-centred care is so important, especially for children who may be feeling anxious or vulnerable.

Thank you again for your gratitude and for letting us know how much this has meant to your family.

Best Wishes

Catherine
