"This has been a very valuable treatment for me"

About: Kilbryde Hospice / Complementary Therapy

(as a service user),

My mother passed away from cancer after a rapid decline and had her last days in Kilbryde Hospice.

Following her passing, being an only child with a mother living by herself I found myself with a large todo list and a mountain of stress at a time where you really just need to grieve and process whats happened.

I was offered complimentary therapy to help deal with the anxiety and stress of the situation.

I'm normally a skeptic of such things and do the normal man thing of bottling stuff up, but realising I wasn't sleeping well, feeling tense all the time, and not being able to relax I took up the offer of the therapy.

I attended Reiki sessions where I could explain my challenges, just saying it out loud helped and cleared the mind before taking time to relax with calming music in the Reiki session.

Reiki has taught me about breathing exercises especially in times of stress, it felt like i was getting 8 hours sleep in around an hour and I felt more refreshed than a normal 8 hours sleep!

I now listen to Reiki music frequently while working or walking the dog to keep my stress and anxiety levels manageable.

This has been a very valuable treatment for me and I'd recommend it to anyone dealing with the stress and anxiety of losing a loved one.

Dear Caring Son 44,

Thank you sincerely for sharing your story. It’s incredibly moving to hear your experience in your own words, and your openness will undoubtedly resonate with others who may be navigating similar challenges.

I’m so glad to hear that the Reiki therapies you received offered you a space in your bereavement to be able to 'say it out loud' and begin to feel calm and clarity. The skills you’ve gained sound like they’ve become a useful tool to maintain that as you move forward in life.

I’m certain your therapist will be deeply touched to know how much the sessions have helped, and that you continue to use the techniques because they truly work for you.

Thank you once again for taking the time to share your feedback — it’s genuinely appreciated and deeply valued.

Warmest wishes,

Janice Blakeway
