"The whole experience was exceptionally good"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Day Surgery Unit (K south) Inverclyde Royal Hospital / H North (Surgical)

(as the patient),

I recently underwent Day Surgery at Inverclyde RH to repair an umbilical hernia under general anaesthetic. After being on a long waiting list which included postponements, I underwent a pre Op assessment several days earlier and attended at ward H North at 07:30 hrs. Staff Nurse Lorraine met all those chosen for surgery that day, explaining the difficult situation which had arisen. Beds were being freed slowly due to circumstances beyond IRH's control. Lorraine updated us all at intervals. By midday all patients had assigned beds. 

I was prepared for surgery at about 13:30 hrs. All of Mr Amin's staff were very professional but empathetic through the treatment by everyone was exceptional. I was permitted to leave the hospital at about 20:00 hrs as recovery was good. In short the whole experience was exceptionally good, with professionalism and care shown from admission to discharge. I trust this feedback can be feed back to all of the the team and wish to express my deep thanks to the whole team for a job well done.

Thank you for taking the time to post such kind words regarding your surgery after a long wait.

As you note, the ward was very busy and I'm pleased to hear that the staff kept you informed and treated you with empathy and professionalism.
