Following surgery to fit a plate on my broken ankle and two breaks in my tibia, I was referred to the fracture clinic at NDDH.
I was seen initially by a nurse who removed stitches and put dressings on my wounds, giving me an airboot.
From that point onwards I was looked after by a lovely practitioner called Shannon. Every appointment I was greeting with smile and a friendly discussion about how I'd been getting on. I hit a snag at 2 weeks post op where it became clear that I was allergic to the internal sutures and both wounds had become infected. I was in a lot of pain and it took a toll on me psychologically. Shannon understood this and was so very comforting and calm, explaining everything that she needed to do and what would happen next in my care.
She is a real asset to the team but the trust as a whole. Her unwavering support each appointment allowed me to come away feeling well looked after and positive that things were moving in the right direction.
"Second to none care"
