"The staff go above and beyond"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Acute Assessment Unit (AAU)

(as a service user),

I recently attended the Acute Assessment Unit in Glasgow and would like to provide feedback on my experience.

While it is clear that the unit faces significant systemic pressures, including excessive waiting times and a shortage of available beds, I was consistently impressed by the professionalism, dedication, and compassion of the staff. Despite working in extremely challenging circumstances, the doctors, nurses, and auxiliaries all provided excellent care and support.

I would also like to highlight the ward clerk in particular Louise who was exceptionally helpful throughout my time there. Her ability to manage patient and family concerns with patience and understanding was invaluable and she’s a real credit to the unit.

Overall, although the environment is understandably strained, the staff go above and beyond to ensure that patients feel cared for and supported. Their commitment deserves recognition and appreciation.

Keep up the good fight!

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback. We truly appreciate your recognition of the challenges within the Acute Assessment Unit, as well as your kind words about the professionalism, dedication, and compassion shown by our team.

We are especially pleased to hear that Louise made such a positive impression during your time with us. We will ensure your praise is shared with her and the wider team, as feedback like yours provides a real boost and reinforces the value of the care they deliver every day, often under significant pressure.

While we recognise the ongoing challenges with waiting times and capacity, we remain committed to providing the best possible care to every patient, and your comments reaffirm the importance of this effort.

Thank you again for your encouragement and support — it means a great deal to the staff.

Take care
