"Listened and discussed my concerns"

About: Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership

(as a service user),

Following the birth of my baby I have been very well supported by my health visitor Emma (Buckie Team), who has given me great advice, completed additional visits with phone calls and texts to check in when required with me.

My baby suffered greatly with colic and reflux and I felt I wasn't listened to by the GP and people who would say all babies cry or it is just their age, it will get better by... I felt that my concerns for a baby who hardly slept from birth and screamed for hours and hours every day and night to the point of being inconsolable at times was just brushed aside, even to the point of it making me feel like I was imagining it and that I just couldn't cope with being a new parent which greatly affected my confidence.

Emma listened to my concerns and discussed these concerns with the GP to ensure we were heard and given medication to try and help with these conditions. She made sure to carry out additional visits to see how we were getting on and ensuring my mental health was not deteriorating. I feel lucky to have had this support and knew that I could get in touch with the team if needed during the time since the additional input.
