"Knee replacement"

About: Western Isles Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I started developing arthritic pain in my knee at the end of last year and after there being no improvement with medication, I was referred to orthopaedics for assessment. I was assessed as needing a knee replacement and was operated on within 3 months.

The whole process was greatly helped by a Prehab class run by the hospital’s physiotherapy division, which ensured the muscles and ligaments involved with the knee were in good condition and ready for the procedure.

On completion of the operation, physio were excellent in following up and the Rehab class run by them has been of excellent value in ensuring proper progress is being made in the recuperative process.
