Living with depression and anxiety was a silent battle I fought every day. I used to hide behind a mask, pretending everything was fine, but when I was alone, the weight of those feelings was almost unbearable. I isolated myself, lost all interest in the things I once loved, and moved through life like a robot, barely existing.
When I was referred to CBT, I didn’t know what to expect, and at first, I felt uncertain and scared. I had tried counselling before, diving deep into my thoughts, but CBT was different—it was about facing those thoughts head-on and learning to challenge them. It wasn’t easy; the process made me uncomfortable in a way that was strangely healing.
I was pushed, my thoughts were questioned, and slowly, I gained new perspective. That perspective was exactly what I needed to begin healing. Therapy became a lifeline that brought me back from my darkest moments.
People around me noticed the change—they see the light I thought I had lost. More importantly, I now carry tools and strength to face heavy feelings, and when the darkness creeps in, I know how to pull myself out.
If you’re struggling, please know that healing is possible.
